The Paraprofessional Binder: Para Support for Autism & Special Ed Self‑Contained Classroom has been one of the most helpful resources I’ve used in my classroom. As a special education teacher, I often struggle to find time to train paraprofessionals thoroughly while managing everything else that comes with running a self-contained classroom. This binder gave me a solid starting point and helped me clearly communicate expectations, routines, and strategies from day one.
What I appreciated most is how editable and customizable it is. I was able to tweak the forms and templates to fit the specific needs of my students and the structure of our day. The binder includes everything I needed—daily responsibilities, prompting hierarchies, behavior management plans, sensory support strategies, and even emergency procedures. Having all of that organized in one place has made such a difference, not just for me but for my paraprofessionals. They now have something they can refer back to when they’re unsure, which has helped them feel more confident and consistent in their support.
It did take a little time up front to make it work for my classroom, but it’s absolutely worth it. My team is more aligned, my students are benefiting from more consistent support, and I’m not constantly having to repeat myself or create things from scratch. If you’re in a special education setting—especially one that supports students with autism or significant needs—I highly recommend this binder. It’s been a game-changer for how I train and collaborate with my paras.
